Stories of Chronic Illness
-- an event to explore responses to chronic illness in the church
19 February 2011
venue is yet to be arranged but will be somewhere in central or inner London
Since 2006 the Urban Churches Support Group has been exploring how churches can respond to all kinds of chronic illness amongst their congregations. In particular we have developed a workbook called 'Be Not Afraid' using Bible stories in order to help people tell their illness stories and reflect on them
The event is still in the process of being developed and more details will be available in the autumn but it will be based around hearing the stories of people with chronic illness and their attempts to find a voice and tell it 'like it is'. Out of this we hope to develop materials which will help churches respond more effectively to chronic illness and contribute to giving a voice to people with chronic illness in churches
